JohnMayer.com Augmented Reality Music Video.
In an industry first John Mayer has produced an interactive, web based augmented reality music video for his next single 'Heartbreak Warefare'.
The single, from his soon to be released 4th studio album, is the second single to be released from the new album titled 'Battle Studies'.

When entering the website the user is greated with the usual johnmayer.com clean layout. The background is black, the main header is white and the sub headers are in a dark grey. Very slick and minimal. The main components of the page begin to load (mine took about 50 seconds on an 8mb broadband) then you are asked to allow the site to access your webcam. When everything is ready to go you are left with a misty window with a silhouette of a broken heart.
Your webcam then comes to life and behind the misty glass you can see yourself. All thats left then is to print out the pdf broken heart (or load up the pdf page on a mobile device) and line up the icon with the silhouette.
At this point, if everything is working for you, you should be feeling slightly geeky/amazed/joyful. When I lined everything up and saw that I was the one holding the virtual set I was overjoyed and i immediately was amazed at how the internet and creative ideas keep evolving.
Try it for yourself here.
